Isle of Man Tourism is urging residents and visitors to send in their nominations for the Tourism Awards scheme 2010. Nominations will close on Friday 29th October and over 900 cards, three times more than last year, have already been received.
The search is on to find the creme de la creme of the Island’s tourism and hospitality sector and people are asked to nominate in nine award categories. These include best customer service, hotel accommodation, guest accommodation, self-catering accommodation, eating out experience, camp site and hostel, attraction, town/village and event of the year.
And it couldn’t be easier to vote, as nomination cards are available at the Manx Welcome Centre and Departure Lounge in the Sea Terminal, all Manx National Heritage sites, Ronaldsway airport, Curraghs Wildlife Park, Moore’s Kipper Yard, Railway stations, Douglas Town Hall and various Commissioners offices around the Island. You can also log on to www.visitisleofman.com and vote online.
Geoff Corkish MBE, MHK, Political Member for Isle of Man Tourism said:
‘The Tourism Awards are part of our strategic objective to drive up quality and service within the hospitality industry and they are awarded to recognise what is one of the Island’s most important growth sectors in terms of developing the Island’s economy. We have a great deal to be proud of and the awards give us an opportunity to showcase the very best that our Island has to offer in tourism.
‘More people are choosing to holiday closer to home and the quality of our tourism product is becoming increasingly more important. We hope that our visitors will enjoy the high standard of service we have to offer and visit us time and time again.’
The judging of the awards by independent judges will take place in November and the winners will be announced at an Awards Ceremony which will be held at The Empress Hotel on Tuesday 7th December.
