Manx Graduates Celebrates 100th Employer Registration

by isleofman.com 28th September 2010
‘Manx Graduates’ (www.manxgraduates.im), the Isle of Man’s dedicated professional networking and recruitment portal has welcomed the 100th registered employer, AM Limited, to the website. The Manx Graduates portal, a Department of Economic Development initiative, was developed by local software developer PDMS, and was launched in December 2008 AM Limited, a leading provider of tax solutions, registered with the site to seek out a talented graduate for an assistant marketing position. AM Ltd were attracted to the Manx Graduates portal as they knew it would provide them with immediate and easy access to a searchable database of potential employees looking for work on the Island. The site has grown in popularity with both employers and job seekers alike. Within just a few days of its launch the website had attracted hundreds of users and now boasts well over 1000 individual users comprised of professionals, graduates and students all with a connection to the Isle of Man. The benefits of online media channels for recruitment have been recognized by individuals and employers alike, as Chris Gledhill, Managing Director of PDMS commented; “If you use conventional advertising means, it can be very fleeting and it’s also difficult to reach the large number of graduates living abroad. Portals such as Manx Graduates provide a different way of monitoring a connection with a particular group. The overall aim of manxgraduates.im is to build a community that people can remain part of and that they can dip into whenever it’s relevant to them.” The Manx Graduates portal provides a vast array of opportunities. The International Business School recently used Manx Graduates to offer companies the opportunity to recruit or send an existing employee on secondment to the International Business School to take part in a Department of Economic Development-funded ‘Graduate MBA with Internship’. There are also numerous schemes advertised through the site, including the Department of Economic Development’s ‘Step Scheme’, which places students in work experience roles, working on real projects within government departments and local companies. AM Limited’s Managing Director, Adam Clayton, says of Manx Graduates ‘AM Limited always aims to employ talented and creative people. manxgraduates.im allows AML the possibility of finding such people without the normal constraints of the recruitment process. I would recommend all local graduates and employers to explore the website’. Ends
