Temporary disruption to kerbside collection service: Statement from Douglas Borough Council

by isleofman.com 24th September 2010
Measures are being put in place by Douglas Borough Council to address some current disruption to the kerbside collection service in Douglas, Onchan and Braddan due to one of the collection vehicles being temporarily out of service. Borough Engineer Ian Clague said: ‘Failure of one of our vehicles means we are currently experiencing short-term difficulties maintaining our customary high standard of service. I can confirm, however, that we shall be operating a collection service tomorrow morning, Saturday September 25 to those households in the Birch Hill area of Onchan whose recyclables were not collected earlier this week. ‘We will be making every effort to adhere as closely as possible to our recyclables collection schedule over the coming week. Meantime we apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank residents for their forbearance while we implement measures to bring a swift resolution to the situation.’ Residents requiring further information are asked to contact Waste Management Officer, Kerbside Collection Peter Macken, pmacken@douglas.gov.im
