Blue Train Big Band Return

by isleofman.com 20th September 2010
To celebrate their return to public performance after a break of three years the 'Blue Train Big Band' are performing a special concert on Sunday 26th September, at the The Studio within Ballakermeen School at 7.30pm. Tickets priced at just ?6 are on sale from The Villa Marina Box Office, Sea Terminal Welcome Centre, or by telephone on 600555. Tickets will be available on the door on the evening of the performance. The original Blue Train Big Band performed extensively throughout the Isle of Man from the minute it was formed by a group of local amateur musicians in 2001. They always thrilled their audiences with a programme to suit all tastes including classics from the Kenton, Basie and Miller libraries through to the 21st century sounds of the Big Phat Band. The emphasis was always on entertainment and fun. The band performed at a variety of events and functions throughout each year - Dances, Parties, Weddings etc. The highlights of the band's history were without any doubt performances with the legendary Digby Fairweather, and two live appearances at the Derry Jazz & Big Band Festival. The band will perform an evening of bigband jazz and swing guaranteed to set your foot tapping and send you home with a smile on your face! - Ends -
