All three words describe the joint Department of Health and Department of Social Care Award Ceremony held at Peel Cathedral on Friday, 10th September 2010.
Staff working in the health and social care community on the Island were presented with a wide range of awards at the ceremony on Friday. Most had achieved their qualifications whilst working, but also whilst handling additional responsibilities and commitments in the community and in the home including as carers or parents. All were completing qualifications which not only helped them develop but ensured a capable and confident workforce in health and social care across the Island.
Awardees, staff, friends and families were treated to a spectacle of music, fanfare and ceremony in a happy and encouraging atmosphere. David Anderson MHK, Minister for Health and Minister for Social Care Hon Martyn Quayle MHK presented awards and were joined on the platform by visiting representatives of Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Chester.
There was an interesting and entertaining address from Dr Fenella Bazin, retired Director of the Centre for Manx Studies and much loved music-maker.
David Anderson MHK, Minister for Health said: “The Ceremony went very well and it is very encouraging to see so many staff learning throughout their working lives and contributing to excellent service standards in health and social care.”
Minister for Social Care, Hon Martyn Quayle MHK agreed, saying “It was delightful to see such high educational standards at all levels and also to recognise the long service of some of our staff. Their loyalty and commitment is second to none.”
