Cricketers Net Top Prizes From Friends Provident International

by isleofman.com 16th September 2010
Cricketers received special prizes donated by Friends Provident International at Castletown Cricket Club’s inaugural Chairman’s Day tournament. Quinn Legal XI player Wicus Wessels was awarded the Batsman of the Day prize and received a bat signed by teams in the 2009 Friends Provident Trophy final after scoring 83 runs during the tournament. Dave Griffiths, also playing for the Quinn Legal XI, won the Bowler of the Day award and went away with a Friends Provident t20 commemorative coin. It was specially minted to be used for the coin toss in the t20 tournament. The Club Man of the Day award was given to Andrew Sewell who guided the Friends Provident XI into the final of the Chairman’s Day tournament. He received a Friends Provident t20 polo shirt. The Chairman’s Day tournament, held at King William’s College, featured four teams playing two semi finals and a final - which is the same format as the Friends Provident t20 tournament finals day. The Friends Provident XI beat the Chairman’s XI in the first semi-final. The Quinn Legal XI won the tournament after beating the President’s XI in their semi-final. The Chairman’s Day tournament was organised by Castletown Cricket Club Chairman Steve Eppleston to celebrate the club’s success this year, which has seen them win both the Weekend League and the T20 competition. - Ends -
