Engine Room Fire on Yacht

Douglas Lifeboat was launched at approximately 15.30hr this afternoon (12th September) after a distress call was received from a yacht five miles off Douglas when it suffered am engine room fire. The automatic fire system activated and extinguished the fire but the engine room was heavily smoke logged. Douglas Lifeboat was quickly alongside the yacht and took the vessel in tow to Douglas where Coastguard Officers were on hand to assist with berthing and check that everything was o.k. All three people on board were safe and well. End
