Local Savings Bank donates ?500 to good cause
Douglas, ISLE OF MAN, (10 September 2010) – Santander’s local savings subsidiary, Alliance & Leicester International, have donated ?500 to Riding for the Disabled Association to ensure a specialist treatment can continue to be funded.
Hippotherapy sessions are held regularly as part of the Riding for the Disabled programme to assist disabled children.
Hippotherapy uses the movement of the horse as a therapeutic tool to develop the rider's ability to achieve a symmetrical posture and to normalise muscle tone, develop trunk and head control and maintain an upright posture. The horse's movement also provides opportunities for the rider to develop balance reactions
Lynn McNamara, Honorary Secretary of Riding for the Disabled Isle of Man Said “This donation will cover the costs of our Hippotherapy sessions for a full term and we are extremely grateful to George and Alliance & Leicester International for their support“.
Commenting on the support the bank have been able to provide the scheme, Community Affairs Manager George Campbell said “I was extremely grateful to have the opportunity to view first hand the treatment being carried out and from speaking with the parents of the children I know that these sessions are extremely valuable and am confident our donation will go far in giving these children more comfort in life.”
