Ramsey Town Commissioners are helping local residents avoid flu - and the current traffic disruption caused by road works in Bowring Road - by partnering with Ramsey Group Practice to host two health days at Ramsey Town Hall in October.
Those eligible for free flu vaccinations, which will be administered by one of the practice’s GPs or nurses at the Town Hall, will also have the opportunity to have their weight and blood pressure checked and visit stands manned by representatives from Age Concern Isle of Man, Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service, Macmillan Cancer Support, Victim Support and Department of Health falls prevention specialists.
Ramsey Town Commissioner and local GP Dr Alex Allinson said: ‘Ramsey Town Hall is ideally located to provide this essential community health care service. These two health days are a practical demonstration of partnership working between the Commissioners and the Department of Health and will provide a means of helping people in Ramsey stay fit and healthy this winter.’
The Ramsey Health Days will run from 10.00am to 4 pm on Thursday October 14 and Thursday October 21. No appointment necessary. Refreshments provided.
For those unable to attend, vaccinations will be available at Ramsey Group Practice. Telephone 811900 for further details.
Eligibility for free flu vaccination applies to all those aged 65 or over and all those aged six months or over with any of the following conditions:
