CHIEF Minister Tony Brown MHK has paid tribute to Sir Norman Wisdom, comedian, actor and long-time resident of the Isle of Man, who passed away yesterday evening (Monday, October 4). He said: ‘I was deeply saddened to learn of the death of Sir Norman and I offer my sincere condolences to his family, friends and fans. ‘We were very fortunate indeed that Sir Norman chose to make the Isle of Man his home. He was a wonderful asset to the local community and made a tremendous contribution to countless Island charities and good causes. ‘I had the pleasure of meeting Sir Norman on numerous occasions and always enjoyed his company. He never failed to put a smile on people’s faces with his infectious sense of humour. Behind the slapstick comedy, he was a warm and caring person who went out of his way to help others. He will be missed by very many people from all walks of life within our community.’ Ends
