Buchan School enjoys ‘Lads and Dads’ Rugby Tour

by isleofman.com 6th October 2010
Pupils from The Buchan School boys’ rugby teams and their dads recently travelled to Cheshire for the ‘Lads and Dads’ rugby tour. Twenty-five boys and twenty-one parents from Forms 3 and 4, including the new Principal, Mr Martin Humphreys, whose son Jack is in Form 4, spent a hardy weekend in Cheshire competing against local teams. Both teams enjoyed a win over their competitors, with The Buchan School’s Under 11 team claiming victory over Rochdale RUFC with a 77 – 7 win and the Under 10s winning one out of four in a gruelling 4-game mini series against various teams including the current county champions, Wilmslow A. Following the competition, all ‘Lads and Dads’ enjoyed watching an exciting match between Sale Sharks and Harlequins on the Friday night with the Form 3 boys getting the privilege of tackling the mascot, 'Sharkie', on the pitch at half time. Buchan pupils also benefitted from a challenging training session at the Sale Sharks training ground, Carrington, where the Sharks community coaches put them through their paces. A most successful tour that was thoroughly enjoyed by all! Ends
