Barclays Wealth has taken the lead in becoming a Chartered Member of the Young Citizens Fund of the Golden Jubilee Trust with a donation of ?2,000.
The Golden Jubilee trust charity, established in 2002, is dedicated to promoting good citizenship in young people in the Isle of Man, and aspires for the Island’s young people to have the knowledge, skills and understanding to play an effective role in society at local, national and international levels and for them to become informed, thoughtful and responsible citizens who are aware of their duties as well as their rights. The Trust wants to promote young people’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development to make them more self-confident and responsible. Above all they work to encourage young people to play a helpful part in the life of their community as citizens and for communities to be better equipped to encourage young people to become good citizens.
The two main levels of work include helping individuals and groups participate in schemes that will help them develop as citizens and working with local authorities and youth organisations by holding workshops and seminars to raise awareness of the needs of young people.
John Knight, Trust Chairman, "The Golden Jubilee Trust is thrilled to have Barclays Wealth on board as a charter member. Their contribution, alongside those made by other island businesses, enables the Trust to focus its time upon the individuals and groups who approach us for project funding. Clearly, Barclays take a proactive approach to their corporate social responsibility and we thank them for their obvious generosity."
Stuart Nelson, Chairman of the Barclays Wealth Charity Committee said; ‘The aims and activities of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Trust and Young Citizens’ Fund are deserving of support and in line with our programme of charitable activity in the Island community.’
