Tina Edge has been appointed development officer for Junior Achievement Isle of Man.
She joins the charity after a long career in the finance sector, most recently with Fortis Prime Fund Solutions and before with Bank of Bermuda. She has also been involved in a voluntary capacity with Manx Charity Aid since its inception in 2004.
Of her new post she said: ‘Having had a long and fulfilling career in finance and enjoyed contact with the voluntary sector I wanted to give something back and work full-time for a charity. I was especially attracted to Junior Achievement because of its focus on young people and how they can help shape the Isle of Man of tomorrow.’
She has recently returned from a training course in London – How to Fundraise from the Community – organised by independent UK-based charity Directory of Social Change, and will be attending a second course, on developing corporate support, in November. ‘The sessions were very informative and productive and I came back with a number of interesting ideas I hope to develop,’ said Tina, adding: ‘I’m pleased to be joining Junior Achievement at such an exciting time in its development and look forward to helping the charity raise the annual ?300,000 it needs to achieve its goal of reaching every young person in primary and secondary education in the Isle of Man.’
Manx-born Tina, who lives in Onchan, is married to Kevin and has two sons, Michael, 29 and Mark, 24.
Tina is looking to recruit a sub-committee to help with fundraising events. Anyone with a few hours to spare who would be interested in volunteering is asked to contact her at Junior Achievement Isle of Man, Suite 2, Peterson House, Middle River, Douglas. Telephone 666266. tina@jaiom.im.
