Manx Telecom will be flying the flag for the Isle of Man at the European iGaming Congress & Expo (EiG). Now in its 9th year, the event which takes place in Copenhagen from 19th to 21st October, is the largest iGaming conference in the world and is expected to be attended by over 1,500 delegates.
Manx Telecom will be represented on the Isle of Man Government stand and, looking forward to the event, Stephen Kane, Head of Data Centre Commercial Development at Manx Telecom, said, “Some years ago, we set out to target eGaming as a priority area for the growth our business. It’s a sector with almost infinite potential, and I’m glad to say that thanks to significant investment in our data centre and in connectivity between the Island and the rest of the world, our clients currently include some of the world’s largest eGaming companies and online bookmakers. ”
Both Manx Telecom’s data centre and its connectivity were tested last year when PokerStars, a Manx Telecom client, hosted the world’s largest online poker tournament from the Isle of Man. The tournament saw 149,196 players simultaneously compete for a top prize of $50,000. The tournament, which took place over six hours, set a new Guinness World Record, with PokerStars seeing a total of 444,037 simultaneous players on its site at one time – a massive number for what is a highly interactive site.
“Making the Island a destination of choice for eGaming companies and associated industries is, of course, a group effort,” says Stephen. “Our success has been due in large part to the partnership we have forged with the Isle of Man Government, and others, to ensure that the Island wins a significant share of the global eGaming market. Events such as the European iGaming Congress & Expo give us all a tremendous opportunity to showcase the best the Island has to offer.”
