by isleofman.com 22nd October 2010
For the first time Isle of Man Railways is running an evening excursion on Bonfire Night (Friday 5th November). These additional Steam and Electric Railway services have been scheduled to coincide with the firework displays on the beach at Port Erin and at the lake in Mooragh Park in Ramsey. It’ll also give passengers time to get a drink or some supper and soak up the atmosphere, before being driven home. Isle of Man Railways will take passengers to the events in style while avoiding parking issues, and allow them to relax and enjoy the ride South by steam or North by electric. Hon David Cretney MHK, Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure commented: “This is not the first time additional trains and trams have been organised to help provide unique transport and added experience to local events, earlier this year additional services were put on for the Laxey Mill festival and more recently the 10.10.10 event to cut carbon emissions. This is another great example of Isle of Man Railways supporting local events and utilising our great Railway Heritage.” Firework displays are due to start in Port Erin at 19:00 and in Ramsey at 19:30 The schedules for these services are: STEAM RAILWAY Douglas to Port Erin Port Erin to Douglas Douglas 17:30 Port Erin 21:00 Port Soderick 17:42 Port St. Mary 21:04 Santon 17:51 Colby 21:13 Ballasalla 18:00 Castletown 21:24 Castletown 18:06 Ballasalla 21:30 Colby 18:16 Santon 21:40 Port St. Mary 18:25 Port Soderick 21:51 Port Erin 18:30 Douglas 22:03 MANX ELECTRIC RAILWAY Douglas to Ramsey Ramsey to Douglas Derby Castle 17:35 Ramsey 21:00 Groudle 17:47 Dhoon 21:30 Baldrine 17:53 Laxey 21:45 South Cape 18:00 South Cape 21:50 Laxey 18:05 Baldrine 21:57 Dhoon 18:20 Groudle 22:03 Ramsey 18:50 Derby Castle 22:15 Tickets for these additional, late night services are available from all the main stations, there will be no concessions and the standard fares will apply. -Ends-
