Gale Force Theatre School is celebrating yet another landmark event, with two of its students achieving the highest English Speaking Board (ESB) Advanced grades in the school’s 21-year history.
Moira Pain, 15, was awarded a distinction for achieving 90 per cent in her ESB Advanced Certificate Proficiency and Torin Lakeman, also 15, earned a distinction for gaining 90 per cent in his ESB Advanced Certificate in Spoken English.
The school’s founder and director Barbara Gale said: ‘Every year I never cease to be amazed by the tremendous results students achieve in their ESB examinations. But 2010 has been especially memorable, not only with Moira and Torin’s dedication and talent being rewarded by such high-grade distinctions but also by the fact that all the students’ ESB results were truly outstanding, with every one achieving nothing lower than a merit. Moira and Torin have succeeded in raising the bar higher than ever and have shown a confidence and ability beyond their years. I congratulate them along with all the other students on their achievements and for helping make Gale Force Theatre School the resounding success it has become.’
Mrs Gale added that the annual Cranmer Bible reading awards held at Patrick Church, organised by Celia Salisbury-Jones and adjudicated by a panel chaired by Mike Hoy, MBE, saw further success for two Gale Force students with Serena Bennett, 10, winning the junior reading section and Moira Pain, 15, the intermediate section. In congratulating Serena and Moira, Mrs Gale acknowledged the role played by Gemma Williams and Carolyn Shipstone of Braddan Church in helping prepare the students for their awards.
