Ramsey Set For Sure-Fire Success on November 5

by isleofman.com 27th October 2010
Ramsey Town Commissioners’ organised fireworks display on Friday November 5 promises to be a sure-fire success, thanks to sponsorship from telecoms provider Sure. Commissioners’ chairman Captain Nigel Malpass said: ‘Ramsey’s fireworks night in Mooragh Park is a major community event in the town’s social calendar and this year we are delighted that Sure has generously agreed to sponsor the display by Galaxy Fireworks which will be truly spectacular with some amazing effects. The Commissioners are keen proponents of organised fireworks displays as they not only deliver the greatest visual impact but, importantly, provide spectators with a secure and safe environment in which to enjoy the show.’ The display which starts at 7.30pm will be launched from the Mooragh Lake island and spectators are advised to view from the vicinity of the Lakeside Centre in the park. Hot drinks and snacks will be available on site. Parking will be provided at the Mooragh amenity area and on the promenade. Disabled drivers will be permitted vehicular access into the park. Pedestrian access will be via Ballacloan Road. Footpaths from the Grove Mount and Windsor Mount areas will be closed. The swing bridge flow will be reversed from 8pm to facilitate motorists’ ease of exit from the park and promenade areas. In the interests of safety spectators must not bring their own fireworks, including sparklers, or pets, onto the site. A special Douglas to Ramsey and return tram service is to operate on November 5.
