Between the evening of Thursday 28th October 2010 and the morning of Friday 29th October 2010 the Rose Gardens on Glen Falcon Road, Douglas, opposite the old brewery buildings, have been vandalised in what police can only describe as sacrilege to the memory of the people who bequeathed the land.
In the middle of the Rose Gardens is a bronze statue of a naked athlete which has been pulled off its plinth damaging the feet. The statute was then dragged along the grassed area into the passageway of the Rose Gardens causing more damage to the statue that will cost approximately ?2000 to repair before the public of Douglas will be able to see the statue in all its glory again.
On the evening in question police believe there may have been a large group of youths drinking in that area and would like to hear from them or anybody else who may have information about the person or people that have caused this damage.

Between the evening of Thursday 28th October and the morning of Friday 29th October 2010 a silver Volkswagen motor vehicle was parked in Auckland Grove back lane, Douglas.
Whilst the vehicle has been parked there it has been entered and a number of power tools have been stolen. The tools taken were a light blue “Makita” percussion hammer drill with its light blue moulded case, a dark blue “Bosch” professional jigsaw in a dark blue moulded case and a “Rage” evolution circular saw in black and orange which still has the ‘Rage’ logo on the blade as the saw is still very new.
The police would ask that members of the public be vigilant in case they are offered for sale any power tools in particular the distinctive ‘Rage’ evolution circular saw.
Anyone with information about the theft is urged to contact police at Police Headquarters.
