Isle of Man — (Nov. 1, 2010): PDMS are pleased to announce that they have renewed their sponsorship of the Junior Achievement (JA) Company Programme for 2010. The Company Programme offers local students, aged between 15 and 19, the opportunity to experience running their own company over the course of an academic year. Junior Achievement is a Manx registered charity that provides a wide range of programmes to help young people on the Isle of Man gain essential skills they need when they leave full-time education. PDMS have sponsored the Company Programme for the past 2 years and a number of staff have also been actively involved, acting as business advisors to the Junior Achievement companies created.
The Company Programme helps students prepare for the challenges of working life and equips them with many valuable skills such as team work, communication and self confidence. The students are exposed to all aspects of running a company from raising share capital and appointing a Board of Directors right through to developing and selling products and services. Companies from all over the Island are then selected to compete in the National Finals to select a company that will represent the Isle of Man at the European Company of the Year Competition.
Chris Gledhill, PDMS Managing Director, commented “The team at Junior Achievement do a fantastic job of running the Company Programme and I’m delighted that we can continue supporting the great work they do. I’m always impressed by the entrepreneurship and of enthusiasm shown by the students involved each year. The programme also provides a great opportunity for people from the local business community to help mentor the business people of the future”.
PDMS are long standing supporters of Junior Achievement and have also developed their website (www.jaiom.im).
