Operation Increment

by isleofman.com 3rd November 2010
Over the past two days Isle of Man Police have conducted a successful proactive, intelligence led, operation which resulted in the arrest of 12 local men and women, 8 of whom have now been charged with money laundering and drug related offences. Others have been released on bail pending enquiries. This was a large operation jointly executed by officers from across the constabulary, such as the Financial Crime Unit including partners, Drug Trafficking Unit, CID, Level 1 Proactive Unit, the Dog Unit, the Police Search Team and also uniformed officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Teams. It is our intention that the Constabulary will continue to target local criminal gangs, particularly those who benefit from the proceeds of their crimes and try to take those profits from them. Detective Inspector John Scarffe of the Island’s Financial Crime Unit said; “The intention of conducting operations like this is to keep our community safe, reducing the harm caused by criminals by targeting those who profit from their crimes and where applicable take their profits from them. Where appropriate those profits may be used against them to fund further similar police operations”. ENDS
