Isle of Man, 4 November 2010 – Britannia International has been short-listed in the category of Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) at the Isle of Man Newspaper’s Awards for Excellence.
The savings bank has been a finalist in this category ever since the awards started in 2006, winning the award twice during this time.
Britannia International’s CSR Champion, Nick Pledger said: “Getting short-listed for the Corporate and Social Responsibility award is a great boost for all the staff at Britannia International. Staff contribute a great deal of input into the Company CSR plan and dedicate their time and effort to in-house projects and community initiatives.”
The Britannia International CSR plan focuses on five main areas – Environment, Suppliers, Adding Value, Workplace and the Community.
Among the many initiatives that make up their CSR plan, Britannia International log all business mileage and offset as much of this as possible from staff members walking or cycling to work. They are also involved in numerous community initiatives, including being one of the lead partners for the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2011. Staff also recently dedicated their time to help renovate a footpath in collaboration with the One World Centre and Douglas Development Partnership.
