Isle of Man Hampers In Demand For Christmas

by isleofman.com 8th November 2010
Demand for seasonal gourmet hampers filled with Isle of Man produce is already showing a significant increase on last year as cost-conscious companies and consumers look to give more practical gifts this Christmas. “In the current economic climate companies are taking a more considered approach to the sort of gifts they give clients and staff, that is already apparent in our order book for hampers,” said Mark Hotchkiss, managing director of isleofmanhampers.com, a subsidiary of Douglas-based Post-a-Rose. “The attraction of a hamper is that it offers something for everyone in the family, ranging from cheeses for the savoury palate to chocolates for the sweet tooth. We originally launched the hampers for the corporate market but we are now seeing increasing interest from consumers who want to give a gift that is not only practical but reflects their own association with the Isle of Man.” Mr Hotchkiss added: “We are lucky to have such an excellent range of produce on our doorstep with hamper contents sourced from 15 local producers and suppliers. For Christmas last year we sold more than 1,000 hampers but this year we anticipate the figure will be considerably higher which goes towards supporting the local economy.” Hampers range in price from around ?20 to ?115.
