Healthy, Happy Children Are First Priority In Ballasalla

by isleofman.com 9th November 2010
The Children’s Centre, the local charity working to put the needs of children, young people and families first, has joined forces with the Department of Health to provide a new family service in Ballasalla. This Monday saw the first Health Visitor service based from the new Community House at 25, Clagh Vane, Ballasalla. Every Monday between 2pm and 3pm parents can bring their babies and pre-school children in to see the local Health Visitor in their local area. Susan Dunajewski, Health Visitor for the South of the Island said, “This is a great opportunity to expand partnership working to meet the needs of children and families in the South of the Island”. As the service is being offered on a drop in basis, The Children’s Centre is providing a ‘Wait and Play’ facility for all children whilst they wait to see the Health Visitor. Dawn Staniford, Family Support Worker for The Children’s Centre in Ballasalla said, “After running a similar scheme in Peel, we’re glad we’ve been able to extend this initiative to residents in the South of the Island. 25 Clagh Vane is a fantastic community resource and we hope the community comes and takes full advantage’.
