Live and Work Hotels are pleased to announce that The Town House has been named Isle of Man Hotel of the year by the World Travel Awards (WTA). It is the 17th year of the Travel Awards and WTA 2010 nominations featured 5,000 companies in 1,000 categories across 162 countries. The winners were selected by thousands of industry professionals and consumers worldwide.
As well as The Town House, The Hilton, Glen Helen Inn and Mount Murray Hotel and Country Club were nominated.
Managing Director of Live and Work Hotels, Jon Allen commented “We were surprised to be nominated and delighted to win. We have all worked very hard to make sure The Town House and Gloucester House provide the highest standard accommodation we can achieve. 2010 has been a very eventful year for us as not only did we win this prestigious award but The Town House also received the 4 star Gold Award from Isle of Man Tourism / Visit Britain. “
In this era of independent customer reviews travellers are becoming more discerning about where they stay. Live and Work operate a relatively new style accommodation with each hotel comprising a number of suites comprising multiple rooms including a kitchen. “More than halving the number of rooms in the exiting hotels to provide the apart-suite accommodation was a bit of a gamble at the outset but we have had a very successful summer and if you read our reviews on the various travel sites you can see that we seem to have hit the right key. We are not sitting on our laurels however and this year’s improvements include free national and international telephone calls, super king size beds and a number of additional facilities such as ipod players and coffee machines” Jon Allen reflected.
Director of Tourism Rod Nipper said “ It is vital to the future prosperity of the Island that our accommodation providers continue to invest in their product to improve the standards for all our visitors. I would like to congratulate The Town House team on adding this industry award to their Four Star, Gold accolade achieved earlier this year. It is good to see their very significant investment and effort being recognised and rewarded.”
