Jenny Gordon is embarking on a 500km cycle through remote and testing terrain in the Far East, to raise funds for Victim Support Isle of Man.
The journey, which starts on 2nd December, will take Jenny through plantations, across waterways, deep into the heart of the Mekong Delta in Vietnam and on to Cambodia before ending in Siem Reap.
Jenny is taking time out from her job as compliance manager at IFG International to raise money for Victim Support Isle of Man. She has already raised over ?1,000 through direct sponsorship and her Just Giving page at http://original.justgiving.com/jennygordon4/.
Jenny commented, “Victim Support Isle of Man do a great deal of work in the community helping victims of crime, from burglaries through to serious sexual assaults. I’m really pleased to be able to help Victim Support and I really hope the public will get behind this very worthwhile charity.”
Jenny is aiming to raise at least ?2,000 for Victim Support and is holding a swishing party on 27th November to help towards this target. The swishing party is being held in the basement rooms of the Methodist Church on Loch Promenade from 12 noon. At the swishing party, attendees will be able to bring and swap good quality clothes that they either don’t fit or wear any longer for items they really like.
Paula Gelling from Victim Support added, “Without the personal fundraising of individual supporters like Jenny, Victim Support would not be able to provide the current level of service to victims in the Isle of Man. We are delighted that Jenny has chosen to raise funds for our charity which will benefit members of the community most in need of our help.”
Victim Support also run a witness support scheme to help people cope with the stresses and worries that come with being involved in a court proceeding.
