Stormy Weather Thursday 11th November 2010

by isleofman.com 11th November 2010
Good afternoon with wind speeds still increasing incidents are starting to occur around the island. I am the evening control room Police Sergeant in the Islands Emergency Services Joint Control room in Douglas and throughout my shift I will endeavour to keep you informed of incidents in particular with regard to road conditions and the general safety of the Public. Reports of slates starting to lift and fall of roofs are beginning to come in If people have to be out and about they have to be extra careful. Road closure at this time which you should have been informed about already is on Kewaigue Hill , Braddan I’m told directly opposite the school, due to a tree having fallen against power lines. The road closure is at this time until 1800hrs or until tree has been felled. Engineers are on scene and dealing. Peel Road Douglas. Traffic Between Hope Street and The Q” Brown Bobbie Douglas is being diverted this being to a potentially unsafe roof on a commercial premises on that section of road. Believed this will be closed for at least 90 minutes from now. Both these event will I imagine have a considerable effect on rush hour traffic. (Circular Road remains open) Ends
