Stormy Weather

by isleofman.com 12th November 2010
The Emergency Services Joint Control Room managed 32 999 calls from 3pm to 8am. The Police dealt with 80 incidents in the same period and 102 incidents in the 24 hour period. Putting this in perspective the usual amount is 65 – 75 approximately in a normal Wednesday evening. This is a high number of calls and they were managed well by the ESJCR staff, part of the DHA Communications Division. It would appear that the sensible option of cancelling events and, where possible, keeping in doors appears to have helped with the issues the Island experienced due to the weather. The Constabulary would like to thank the public during this busy time – there are still strong winds and the Constabulary asks that people continue to be vigilant. ENDS
