A local florist has been awarded two commendable places at the regional heats of a national florist competition
12, November 2010 (Douglas, Isle of Man) - - Local florist and business owner, Heidi Baker, was awarded third place in both categories she entered, at a recent Interflora competition held last week.
The 31 year old proprietor of The Flower Studio at Tynwald Mills, St Johns, received third place in two categories, Bridal Design and Fascinator, at the Interflora Florist of the Year Competition’s Regional Heats.
Commenting on her awarded positions, Heidi said: “I am ecstatic to have been awarded third place in both the categories I entered, particularly when florist Sarah Horne, an international competition winner of shows such as the Chelsea Flower and Tatton Park, was awarded first place. This is the first competition that I have entered since establishing my own business and apart from being able to show off my imagination and creativity, entering such competitions is a great way to network with other florists from all over the world, as well as keeping up to date with new trends and techniques.”
The prestigious event was held at the Village Hotel in Warrington and welcomed 15 passionate florists and their spectacular and colourful creations to impress the specialist and experienced judging panel.
She added, “My passions are flowers and nature, so doing what I love most as a career is a dream come true and we love to share that passion with our customers. “
Going beyond bouquets and floral arrangements, The Flower Studio now offers a variety of workshops for those who wish to make their own inspired floral creations.
Previous workshops have attracted an array of people from all over the island and their upcoming series of Christmas Workshops will start on the 29th November 2010.
