The Claremont hotel unveiled its new executive suites to the media and key business contacts at a series of launch events on Thursday 11 November.
On the evening of the launch day guests enjoying mouth watering canapes made by the Coast Restaurant’s new head chef, Andrew Colson, and were treated to a tour of the new rooms. Mark Wilson, Managing Director of The Sleepwell Hotel Group, commented on the event: “It was a wonderful evening, and everyone seemed to have a great time. The feedback on the new rooms was excellent too, and we are confident that they will prove popular with businesses bringing people to the Island in the future. The TV in the shower especially caused a lot of interest! I am pleased that we had this opportunity to give potential guests a taste of what is now on offer at The Claremont.”
The launch was the culmination of a ?1,000,000 refurbishment project that started in August. The aim of the project was to provide unique, international standard accommodation on the Isle of Man, with business travellers in mind. Twenty-two rooms in total have been refurbished, with each one costing in excess of ?50,000, while the industry standard is less than ?20,000 per room. The rooms, which were designed with a European Bauhaus style, were created with both comfort and technological improvement in mind. The rooms feature luxurious wet rooms, king size beds with Tempur mattresses, imported timber floors and complimentary luxury botanical Aveda toiletries, as well as free high speed WiFi, iPod docking stations and free Sky Sports on 32” flat screen plasma TVs. Guests will also continue to enjoy complimentary access to Carrefour Gym throughout their stay at The Claremont.
As part of the million pound project, The Claremont Hotel commissioned an independent survey of businessmen and women on the Island, to determine exactly what they consider important when travelling for business. The Claremont then used the results to tailor their newly renovated executive suites to the needs and preferences of the business community. Certain elements of the rooms, such as the timber flooring and iPod docking facilities, responded directly to some of the more unexpected results of the research.
Kim Chambers, General Manager of The Claremont, commented on the successful launch of the new suites: “It is great to see the new rooms launched at the end of such a successful refurbishment project. This has been a substantial investment with the aim of bringing uniquely luxurious accommodation to the heart of Douglas. We can see now that we have achieved everything we set out to, and if anything the new rooms have exceeded our hopes and expectations. They are simply beautiful.”
