Season’s Greetings Extended Eo North Quay

by isleofman.com 16th November 2010
The North Quay in Douglas is to be included in Douglas Borough Council’s Christmas lighting and decorations scheme. Council leader David Christian JP said: ‘The regenerated North Quay is now very much integral to Douglas’s entertainment and leisure scene. The Council has therefore agreed to contribute ?5000 towards the cost of extending its Christmas decorations scheme to the North Quay, principally the installation of decorative lighting on the public lighting columns. ‘It is hoped this investment will be acknowledged by the traders along the North Quay as a clear vote of confidence in their endeavours and I would sincerely hope that all the businesses in the area will follow the Council’s lead and make every effort to decorate their premises to help convey the message that Douglas is very much open for business this Christmas.’ Public works committee chairman Councillor David Ashford said: ‘The revitalised North Quay is a symbol of the changing face of Douglas’s retail, business and commercial sectors. It is against this background that we are pleased to support the enterprise of traders on the Quay by including the area in our Christmas decorations scheme.’ Ends
