A once in a lifetime opportunity to meet Father Christmas in his magical natural home of Lapland this Christmas is up for grabs.
Isle of Man Post Office, in conjunction with Canterbury Travel and Manx Radio, have joined forces to bring one lucky winner the chance to travel to Lapland for a winter experience of a lifetime, where dreams often do become reality.
The competition will see one child (aged between 2-16 years), accompanied by an adult, travel to Lapland for a day filled with fun and magic. The trip includes travel to and from the Isle of Man, including two overnight stays in Manchester. Both the winner and their parent/guardian must have valid passports plus travel insurance including winter sports cover. During the enchanting trip, the winner will have a special meeting with Father Christmas in his cabin. While other activities include snowmobiles, sleigh and husky rides, toboggans, playing in the snow plus much more.
Entry is free and simple. Children need to write a letter to Father Christmas which must include their name, address and phone number (and also have their parent’s or guardian’s permission). Letters need to be posted into the special Lapland posting box situated inside Regent Street Post Office, Douglas no later than 5.30pm on November 30. All letters entered will receive a personal reply from Father Christmas.
Dot Tilbury, General Manager of Isle of Man Stamps & Coins, Isle of Man Post Office said: “This is such an exciting competition and I am sure a trip to Lapland to meet Father Christmas in his home, which sits deep in the snow covered pine trees, would be a dream come true for many children. The competition is free to enter and encourages children to get involved in the art of letter-writing, a valuable skill in life.”
Isle of Man Post Office is grateful to the Department for Education and Children for lending its support to the competition which will be promoted through the Island’s schools.
Eddie Teare MHK, Minister for Education and Children said: “There is always the danger with texting and e-mailing that we lose the art of letter-writing. A letter is much more personal and is undoubtedly appreciated by those who receive one – even Santa, who must receive many. I hope that this competition will encourage young people to sit down and compose a letter.”
Don't forget - the closing date for entries is November 30th and the winner will be announced live on Manx Radio on December 1st. The competition is subject to terms and conditions.
