by isleofman.com 23rd November 2010
Douglas Coastguard Rescue Team and Douglas Lifeboat were tasked to a report of a man trapped at the foot of cliffs beneath Sea Cliff Road, Onchan this morning (Monday 23rd November) At approximately 11.00hr the Isle of Man Coastguard Marine Operations Centre received a 999 report from the gentleman concerned saying that he was stuck and unable to get up the cliff. The Marine Operations Centre immediately dispatched rescue units and the Coastguard were able to locate the man at the very foot of the cliff and to ascertain that he was uninjured. It was decided that the easiest method of evacuation was by lifeboat and Douglas Lifeboat launched its x-boat dinghy to collect the person and bring him to the Lifeboat. The casualty was perfectly O.K. The Isle Of Man Coastguard said that this was a perfect example of the close and highly efficient relationship between the two maritime rescue services. Ends
