The Children’s Centre Hands on a Honda Challenge came to an end on Saturday 20th November when the finalists gathered at the Kingswood Honda Showroom in Douglas. All the finalists were invited to place a vinyl hand into one of the 50 squares on the car. The winner was Ruth Cooke of Castletown who placed her hand with the help of her 9 year old daughter Molly in the square that Brent Mealin had determined the winner the day before. Ruth stated “I have never won anything before, I’m speechless but so happy”. Asked about why he had donated the car to The Children’s Centre, Brent Mealin said “The Children’s Centre provide a variety of services which help local communities across the Isle of Man and I wanted to give something back to a charity that works tirelessly to help family life in the Isle of Man”. John Knight, Chief Executive of The Children’s Centre said “The sale of tickets has raised just over ?13,000 for the Charity and will assist us in continuing to provide many of our charitable services, such as the Child Contact Centre and Out2Play”. Ruth Cooke, her partner Andrew Burnett and their family are taking delivery of the Honda Jazz this week. Ends
