Ramsey’s Tree-Mendously Bright Christmas

by isleofman.com 25th November 2010
Ramsey is switching on to the festive season and is set to dazzle thanks to sponsorship of two Christmas trees. Britannia International is again sponsoring the tree in Parliament Square that will be switched on at 4.15pm on Friday December 3 by Diane O’Brien of Manx Mencap, who will be joined by some of the charity’s clients, together with staff from the Ramsey branch of Britannia International. Manx Mencap has been chosen by Britannia International as its charity of the year for 2011 and the Ramsey event will be the first of many planned by the bank. December 3 will also see the tree outside the Courthouse, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Ramsey, together with the decorative lighting, switched on at 4.4 5pm by the Royal British Legion Poppy Princess, Emma Malpass, 10, accompanied her father, chairman of Ramsey Town Commissioners Captain Nigel Malpass. Captain Malpass said: ‘Given these challenging trading times it is important we support our local retailers and shop locally, especially at Christmas. We are therefore delighted that Britannia International and the Rotary Club of Ramsey have generously agreed to sponsor Christmas trees for the town to add to the festive atmosphere and help make Ramsey the place to be this Christmas.’ Separately, the Ramsey Christmas lantern parade and carol singing evening will take place on Saturday December 18. Participants are requested to assemble in the Town Hall car park at 5pm for a 5.30pm start. Ends
