Following the hugely successful launch of the Elton John concert, which sold out in less than 46 minutes, the Manx Telecom Bay Festival in association with Manx Radio will officially launch at 12 noon next Thursday (2nd December).
With the Island already whipped into a frenzy over tickets to see Sir Elton John, the 2011 Manx Telecom Bay Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever before. The Festival, which runs from the 17th to 19th June, has a host of new developments and events planned to keep the atmosphere red-hot throughout the entire weekend.
Being approached by Sir Elton’s promoter, Marshall Arts, on the back of feedback received from last year’s event has been a huge boost for the Festival. The atmosphere created by the fans at the 2010 Manx Telecom Bay Festival along with the infrastructure inside the Valhalla tent has proven to be instrumental in bringing one of the world’s all-time music greats to the Island. It is an amazing coup for the Isle of Man and is a great demonstration of the confidence placed in the event and the Island by the music industry.
A new look for the 2011 Manx Telecom Bay Festival, which is set to eclipse previous year’s events to become the biggest local festival to date, will provide the icing on the cake. The previous branding had been developed for the Peel Bay Festival in 2007 and since then the Festival has evolved considerably. The new branding aims to better position and represent the Festival’s current proposition to help in the promotion of the event in the Isle of Man and the UK where there is a growing awareness.
Promotion of the Festival in the UK will be enhanced even further this year with HMV being confirmed as the official ticket seller. HMV will not only be handling online ticket sales but will be promoting the event through 275 stores up and down the country and through their network of 14,000 affiliate partners. This is a major development and offers exposure for the Manx Telecom Bay Festival, and the Isle of Man, to the 1 billion people that visit their stores every year.
The 2011 event also promises to sound better than ever, even before it gets started, with Peter Dickson confirmed as the official spokesperson. Peter, or ‘voiceover man’, is perhaps best known for being the voice of the X-Factor and will be bringing his inimitable style to the preparations for this year’s Festival. Peter will be working alongside Manx Telecom Bay Festival organisers to promote this year’s event locally and in the UK. He commented,
“After attending last year’s Manx Telecom Bay Festival it was a no brainer for me when I was approached by the organisers to become the official spokesperson. The Festival provides one of the most intimate venues on the circuit and creates an amazing atmosphere for artists and fans alike.”
Peter went on to say,
“ I’m genuinely excited to be a part of the 2011 Festival and I’m looking forward to getting over to the Isle of Man as much as possible between now and the big event.”
Artists already confirmed will be announced on Thursday 2nd December along with the launch of a rebranded Manx Telecom Bay Festival website and details of the 2011 Festival. To receive announcements as they are released visit www.bayfestival.im.
