Peel lifeboat held an exercise with a helicopter from RAF Valley the home station of Prince William on Saturday which left a lot of people wondering if Prince William could be the pilot. The helicopter worked with the lifeboat with Coxswain Paul Cain and the rest of the volunteer crew off the West coast of the Island and could clearly be seen from Peel breakwater.
The previous evening the Ladies of The Ladies Lifeboat Guild held a very successful wine and savouries evening at Peel Golf Club. Attended by about 100 people the ladies laid on an excellent supper which accompanied wine supplied by branch Chairman Stuart Blackley.
After the supper an auction took place with auctioneer Malcolm Kelly raising many hundreds of pounds selling a varied selection of items donated by supporters of the lifeboat. Many thanks, to all who supported the event which raised the magnificent sum of ?3376.
On Thursday evening The Creek Inn in Peel held a quiz night in aid of the lifeboat with quizmaster Nigel Wilde setting a nautical theme to raise a further ?400 for the lifeboat funds. The RNLI is totally supported by public donation to supply this important service and the Peel boat has been the busiest on the Island so far this year with 8 call outs and 2 stand byes. Thanks again to all who supported these events.
The next fund raising session is SOS Day on January 28th. Anyone who would like further information or a fund raising pack please ring 842731.
