Recycle, Recycle, Recycle... Christmas Stamps!

by isleofman.com 6th December 2010
The all Island Christmas stamp collection, coordinated through the One World Centre, has been launched this week, with a keen response from schools and churches ready to act as local collecting points. As Christmas cards start to drop through our doors the One World Centre are asking people to remember to save the stamps. Last year the Island sent off bags of stamps to the Leprosy Mission, contributing to an impressive total of over ?65,000 raised through the sale of recycled stamps across the Britain. Katie Keenan, the events coordinator for the One World Centre said “A used stamp is such a small item but collectively they can make a real difference to the work of a charity; it’s a wonderful way to demonstrate the impact of recycling." All stamps should have a 2cm margin of paper left around the edge so that the stamps are not damaged in any way. The collection will take place from Dec 1st until Jan 31st; Collection points around the Island are: Schools: Jurby Community school , Auldyn school, KWC, Phurt le Moirrey , Ballaquayle, Ballakermeen, Arbory, St Ninian’s. Connect to Charity Churches: St Peters Onchan. St James Dalby. Foxdale. St. Johns. Patrick. Marwon. K Michael For more details or information please contact katie@owciom.org Ends
