Manx Telecom, in association with Jersey Telecom, has won a groundbreaking contract to supply Lloyds TSB with mobile phone and BlackBerry services in the Isle of Man, Jersey, and Guernsey. Winning the contract, one of the largest of its kind, is the culmination of months of intensive work by Manx Telecom and Jersey Telecom and will involve both companies combining their skills and expertise to provide a tri-Island service to this leading financial services company.
The entire process was managed by the Lloyds TSB Procurement Team in the UK who, on behalf of Lloyds TSB on the Islands, was briefed to identify a single mobile and BlackBerry supplier for their operations in the Isle of Man, Jersey, and Guernsey.
Initially, three telecoms companies were in the running for the contract; however, one was eliminated after the initial presentation stage process; leaving the joint Manx Telecom and Jersey Telecom bid, plus one other contender. The entire bid process, which started in December 2009, lasted over six months and was one of the most intensive of its kind, involving the submission of an initial proposal document, a presentation in Jersey to the local Lloyds TSB management team, an e-auction, visits by the Lloyds TSB team to the Manx Telecom Network Operations Centre, and to several Manx Telecom corporate customers, and finally an intensive process of legal negotiations to finalise the contract.
“This is a significant win for both Manx Telecom and Jersey Telecom,” said Chris Hall, Manx Telecom Managing Director, “Lloyds TSB ran an extremely thorough and rigorous selection process, and I am absolutely delighted that we were able to meet their requirements for this important contract. The fact that we have done so is a tribute to the sheer professionalism and commitment of everyone involved in winning this significant flagship contract. Also, it’s hugely pleasing that this was a joint bid between us and Jersey Telecom, which shows that, working together, we can offer companies based on all three Islands a superb and seamless service.”
Commenting for Jersey Telecom, Graeme Millar, Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed by Lloyds TSB for what is by any stretch of the imagination a very important and high profile account. Everyone involved in the bid process is to be congratulated on putting in a superb performance. It’s also especially pleasing to be working with Manx Telecom; combining our joint skills and resources in a complementary way to offer Lloyds TSB a superb service.”
The new contract with Lloyds TSB is for a period of three years.
