The Upper Room

by isleofman.com 7th December 2010
The Foundry is the youth and children’s work of Broadway Baptist Church and along with the many groups and projects we take part in, we have also just set up a live music venue on Broadway, Douglas, called The Upper Room. Most bar venues don't cater for young people and we believe music is a really good opportunity for young people these days. The Upper Room is A live music venue primarily for the 11-18 age range. This is not a celebration of talent; a bands musical ability or taste is not the criteria upon which they are selected. Rather, it is about allowing any band to showcase their interest: music. it's a building, made up of four floors within the Alpha Centre, Broadway, Douglas, where bands can rehearse, perform, develop and succeed. We will be offering tuition in many different areas that span from instrument tuition to sound and light engineering and workshops that cover everything from performance to band dynamics. The next concert is 7pm on the 17th December featuring I Am President, The Longsight, Jon Price + special guests, ?1 entry for all ages. We'd like to encourage any young people that are singer/songwriters or in a band to get involved, drop us a line on The Upper Room facebook, or email info@thefoundry.im and go to www.theupperroomvenue.com for more information and to stay up to date on everything we do. We also understand that no amount of writing can really show people what The Upper Room is all about, you need to experience The Upper Room for yourself, so feel free to come down to the next concert or to contact us for more information.
