eGaming professionals flocked to the Courthouse Club on Thursday for the first ever eClub social event. The eClub was launched as a social meeting place for anyone working in or with the online gaming industry.
The event has been set up by Continent 8 Technologies and KPMG with the intention of bringing together the ever-increasing number of eGaming employees on the Island. The industry currently employs over six hundred people directly, and many more indirectly. The event featured complimentary drinks, and was kindly DJ’d by Christian Clegg from Vont.
Richard Ebbutt from Continent 8 commented: “Everyone had a great time and the feedback has been excellent. People have been saying how useful it was to meet other people in their profession and build new relationships. We’re really glad to have played a part in making this happen. Community is an important aspect in any job or industry, and especially so in a young, growing industry like eGaming.”
Micky Swindale of KPMG added: “There were all sorts of people there from many different companies, both sector insiders and providers from other industries. The chance to meet like-minded people was great, but the really important thing is that everyone had a fun time!”
One attendee said: “It was a good location and it was nice to be able to meet and catch up with so many people from the island’s gaming community all in one place.”
The eClub is set to become a regular social event, with the next one planned for the first quarter of 2011. For regular updates and to get involved in the eClub, visit www.facebook.com/IsleofManeClub or join the group ‘Isle of Man eClub’ on LinkedIn.
