Escaped Prisoner Recaptured

At approximately 2.10pm today (Friday 10th December 2010) a prisoner from Jurby prison who was being escorted to an appointment in Douglas escaped from his escorts and ran off. Following a police operation, at about 3.25pm the man was arrested in the Pulrose area by police officers from the Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Team. He is currently being detained at Police Headquarters. The man is 22 years old and he is serving a six year sentence for drug offences which was imposed earlier this year. Police can confirm that no-one was harmed as a result of the incident and the community were not placed at risk. ENDS
