Oscars For Manx2 Factor!

by isleofman.com 16th December 2010
Finalists in the Manx2 Factor had their very own Manx2 Oscar ceremony last weekend at the Palace Cinema, Douglas. In a glittering ceremony all the finalists received prizes and along with parents and other invited guests, were given a preview of the new safety briefing video recorded for Manx2.com flights. Following the boot camp at the Cowell Suite of the Sefton Hotel, last month judges from Manx2.com, the Department of Education and Children and the Sefton Group along with celebrity lookalikes Sharon Osbourne and Katie Price picked six ‘stars’ for the speaking parts - and the rest of the finalists were offered non-speaking roles in the video. Noel Hayes, Manx2.com Chairman said, “The Children were fantastic and worked enormously hard to learn their lines; the film, which is now being shown on our new large format screens is unique, unusual and entertaining. Passenger safety is our first priority and this film is already grabbing the full attention of our passengers.” Prior to the filming, parents and children were given a grand tour of the Manx2 hangar at Ronaldsway. Noel Hayes, Chairman of Manx2.com was there along with his staff directing the budding stars. Filming, by Paul Moulton, took place on a Let 410 aircraft and following last weekend’s premiere the briefings are now being screened on Manx2.com flights. Links to the videos are on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/FlyManx2. The competition, run in partnership with the Department of Education and Children (DEC), was open to all Isle of Man primary school children in years 1 to 6. John Gill, Head of Legal and Administrative Services, DEC, says: “The Department was delighted to support Manx2.com with its project to produce a safety video for use on its routes around the British Isles. The young people who entered were all very good and it was a difficult job to produce a shortlist of 20. The resulting video will allow many people to see what great talent the young people of our schools have. Our thanks go to Noel and his team for giving the children such a marvellous opportunity.” Noel continued “We are very grateful to all our partners in this project – especially the Department of Education and Children and all the teachers at the individual schools. Plus a big thanks to Tracey Bell for make-up and hairdressers Hot Gossip. Latest info updated on Manx2.com’s new twitter feed on www.manx2.com and on facebook.com/flyManx2 Ends
