by isleofman.com 17th December 2010
Fostering First, which responsible for all foster care in the Isle of Man, is looking to recruit a social worker. Fiona Lassen, Head of Fostering Services, said the post would suit a newly qualified social worker with a good understanding for the work of foster carers. She added that the successful applicant should be a team player, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously. Other conditions for the post include being registered by the General Social Care Council (GSCC), holding a full driving licence, and preferably having some experience within a children and families environment. For an informal discussion about the role, or for an application pack, potential applicants should contact Juana Warburton, Human Resources Manager, on 01624 676076, or by e-mailing her at juanawarburton@thechildrenscentre.org.im For further information about the work of Fostering First, including its commitment to safeguarding children visit www.thechildrenscentre.org.im/fosteringfirst The closing date for applications is December 31, 2010. Fostering First was created earlier this year following the signing of a new contract between the Department of Social Care and The Children’s Centre. It deals with several types of fostering. Short term fostering - which may be for a few weeks to several months; emergency fostering - for when a child comes into care suddenly; long term fostering - for when a child is unable to return home, and respite care which means providing regular care for children for short periods of time as a support to their family or other foster carers. - ENDS -
