by isleofman.com 21st December 2010
This Friday 31st, leave the car and let the ‘Hullad Oie’, or ‘Night Owl’ take you home. This late night bus will provide services to Douglas, Peel, Ramsey, Castletown, Port Erin and Port St Mary. The operation of the ‘Hullad Oie’ not only provides a convenient and affordable way home for those celebrating the New Year, but the availability of this service should also contribute towards the reduction of drink driving on the Island. Hon David Cretney MHK, Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure commented: “The Hullad Oie provides a convenient and affordable option for party goers to go out and celebrate welcoming in 2011, let the Hullad Oie take you home this New Year’s Eve.” Hullad Oie will operate this New Years Eve at the following times: Douglas to the South South to Douglas Douglas, Lord Street 00:15 Port St Mary 23:55 Castletown Square 00:46 Port Erin 00:03 Port Erin 01:02 Castletown Square 00:19 Port St Mary 01:10 Douglas, Lord Street 00:49 Douglas to the North North to Douglas Douglas, Lord Street 00:15 Ramsey 00:05 Laxey 00:42 Laxey 00:28 Ramsey 01:06 Douglas, Lord Street 00:56 Douglas to the West West to Douglas Douglas, Lord Street 00:15 Peel 00:43 Peel 00:42 Douglas, Lord Street 01:12 The Hullad Oie will remain at its normal fare for New Year’s Eve, so a single fare from Douglas to Peel would cost just ?4.60. Bus Vannin would also like to remind its passengers that there will be no bus service this Boxing Day, this has been a decision based on the high running costs and low passenger figures for previous years and the further expected reduction in passengers due to key high street stores such as Marks and Spencer’s remaining closed. -Ends-
