Christmas on the Hill , St Johns Christmas Eve

by isleofman.com 23rd December 2010
Despite the weather, the Christmas on the Hill outdoor Nativity will be performed at Tynwald Hill at 4.30pm Christmas Eve. Western Neighbourhood Policing Team’s Inspector Will Campbell said: “The organisers have worked very hard this week to ensure that the event still goes ahead. The main car parking for the public has been arranged in the car park behind the Tynwald Inn and in the St Johns Primary School car park. There is still snow in both car parks and whilst all efforts have been made to make them as drivable as possible, I would ask that drivers follow the instructions of the stewards who will be in attendance in the car parks and take extra care. Access to the car park behind the Tynwald Inn will be via the top entrance on Station road with vehicles only being able to exit via the lower access point. There will be no access / exit from the car park via the Main Peel to Douglas Road. Please allow yourself plenty of time to arrive and park for the performance which will start at 4.30pm. Parking restrictions will be in place on the main St Johns Road as well as Station Road and Glen Moar Road (leading to Tynwald Mills). Police Officers will be patrolling the area, please obey the Police No Waiting cones. Finally, the main Road through St Johns will be open during the performance and I would ask drivers to be extra careful when driving through, resisting the urge to ‘rubberneck’. James Curtis from the event organising team said: “Please come along with your family and friends and enjoy free mince pies and mulled wine. The snow at Tynwald promises to create an extra special atmosphere this year but please come prepared with warm clothing, suitable footwear and if you can, bring a torch.” ENDS
