Friend to Manx Rugby appointed Head Coach at Sale Sharks

by isleofman.com 24th December 2010
Pete Anglesea has just been appointed as Head Coach at Sale Sharks Premiership Rugby Club. This follows the previous Head Coach Mike Brewer being released from his contract at Sharks. Pete will take over straight away and he has stepped up to the role with his usual manner of tackling the role with confidence and determination. His initial contract is until the end of the season and a new Coaching staff is being put in place around his appointment. Pete is a regular visitor to the Isle of Man; He has run several Coaching sessions for the Isle of Man players, as well as passing on his knowledge and experience to some of the Coaches on the Island. He has worked with the Isle of Man’s Rugby Development Officer, Ian Williams, to help Rugby on the Island to progress and develop. To further this Pete has agreed, prior to his new appointment, to come over to the Island on Friday 21st January 2011 to take part in a Coaches Forum being held at the Sports Institute, all of the Coaches on the Island are invited to attend this event. Pete has said that he should still be able to attend as long as his schedule does not change in the meantime! We hope He is able to attend and all the Coaches can enjoy as session with Pete involved. Pete’s appointment increases the Island’s links with Sale Sharks and with two Island players, Alex Waddingham and Phil Cringle both within the Sharks system it bodes well for Rugby on the Island. Alex is currently a Sale Sharks “Jets” (“A” team) player and Phil is in the Youth Academy. Pete was previously the Academy Manager and Coach, as such he was in charge of the “Jets” Team and the Youth Academy. Part of Pete’s role was to search for talent to join the Sharks set up and on his visits to the Island he has noted several players to keep an eye on to see how they develop and although this role will pass on to Pete’s successor at the Academy these players will still be looked over to see how they develop.
