Abnormal Load

by isleofman.com 5th January 2011
The Police are advising members of the public of an abnormal load escort being transported this morning. This will consist of 2 articulated lorries each in the region of 20m in length. The loads they are carrying are both high and wide, and as such will be travelling slowly. The convoy will be leaving the ferry terminal, Douglas about 09.30 and travelling along Lord Street, Peel Road to Quarterbridge, then following the TT course to Ballaugh. It will then follow the Jurby Coast road, ending its journey at Jurby industrial estate. The loads will be escorted by marked Police vehicles and due to the size of the loads, at some points on the route, they will be encroaching into the opposing carriageway. Motorists are urged to pay attention to the instructions of the Police vehicles and if instructed to stop in order for the vehicles to pass their location, to wait until both of the escorted vehicles have passed before continuing on their journey.
