VAT Status of Postal Products and Services

Isle of Man Post Office would like to remind customers that following a legal challenge to the VAT exempt status of postal services in the UK and a ruling by the European Court of Justice on services that can be VAT exempt, with effect from January 31, 2011, VAT will be applied to a small number of products and services. Products and services that will become subject to VAT are as follows: ? Airsure ? Bespoke messenger services ? Business collection services ? Door2Door ? Early morning delivery services ? KeepSafe ? The following Parcelforce services only: o express9 (UK) o express10 (UK) o expressAM (UK) o express24 (UK) o globalexpress (International – zones 5-9) o globalpriority (International – zone 5-9) ? Postage Paid Impression advertising ? ReDirect (outside of Isle of Man & UK) ? Special Delivery by 9am For all of the above services VAT will be applied at the standard rate. (The standard rate has now increased and therefore on January 31, 2011 standard rate VAT will be 20%). The VAT status on all other products and services remains unchanged.
