Archery Report

by isleofman.com 13th January 2011
This week’s round was a bit of a girls only affair, apart from two junior lads, the gents must be feeling the affects of the seasonal period along with a couple of archers still with ongoing injuries. The girls and juniors were up for a show for this week’s Portsmouth round with four personal best scores being achieved and a battle for the top spot in the Compound Division. Firstly the personal bests, Bradley Layton put a massive 48 points on his. Anne Rutland put 6 points on hers and Barbara Harris and Adam Wright both putting 3 points on their PB’s. The battle for the top spot in the Ladies Compound discipline was between Aalin George and Sarah Rigby with the lead changing after every dozen arrows by only one point and with it all level going in to the last end Rigby dropped an arrow in the 9 for George to edge the win by one point. Rigby had to settle for the runners-up spot and young Kirsten George taking the last spot on the podium. In the Recurve discipline Charlotte George started where she left off - on top again - but with Anne Rutland, finding a form that is improving every time she shoots, taking the runners-up spot it won’t be long till the fight at the top will be closer at this rate and Barbara Harris is also improving by taking the last spot on the podium. The Junior Recurve discipline is starting to get closer between Adam Wright and Bradley Layton with Layton putting in a great performance with a massive 48 points on his PB while having two misses. Things are looking good with Wright taking the top spot and Charlotte Harris taking the last spot on the podium. Ladies Compound Aalin George 60 37 577 Sarah Rigby 60 36 576 Kirsten George 60 16 553 Joy Gough 60 20 550 Ladies Recurve Charlotte George 60 34 566 Anne Rutland 60 22 547 PB Barbara Harris 60 14 520 PB Junior Recurve Adam Wright 60 4 448 PB Bradley Layton 58 2 428 PB Charlotte Harris 52 3 270 Next Sunday’s round is a Fita 18 scratch league at Onchan Community Sports Hall and the start times are 10:00am setup for a 10:30am start morning shoot and 1:30pm for 2:00pm start afternoon shoot.
