Douglas Steam Railway Station is the location for an exciting new restaurant called ‘The Tickethall’, opening for breakfast at 8am on Monday 17th January. The site has been the location of a landmark restaurant for a number of years and in keeping with the venue’s long history in both ambiance and food, the new operators will manage a very sympathetic makeover. The new restaurant is totally committed to sourcing and utilising Manx produce and will cater very much for the vegetarian clientele. There will be the addition, however, of locally supplied fish dishes, with fresh fish deliveries being delivered by steam railway during the operating season from ‘Paddy’s hooked on fish’, based in Port St Mary.
Steve Quirke, Manager of The Tickethall commented:
“For many years now I have seen Douglas Railway Station as a great opportunity and a landmark place for the Isle of Man. My team and I will do all I can to add to this and we are looking forward to the exciting time ahead.”
Open eight till late, at the Tickethall you will be able to enjoy great homemade cakes and desserts with your tea and coffee, take advantage of a breakfast offer, eat in or takeaway, and benefit from an evening weekend restaurant service.
Hon David Cretney MHK, Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure commented:
“Douglas Railway station has been the location for quality food, teas and cakes for a number of years, I am pleased to hear that the new operators are not only going to continue this, but further develop a menu and atmosphere that I am sure our customers will enjoy.”
Isle of Man Railways are looking forward to working closely with The Tickethall on many new special events for 2011, and are sure that you will find it ‘just the ticket’.
